Imperial MSc International Health Management Supplemental Essay Example: Career Change (Score 93)

My quantitative foundation was built through core modules in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health economics at the Universidad de Chile, where I completed my BA in Traditional Medicine with a health policy focus. In biostatistics I developed proficiency in SPSS and R, applying regression models to patient outcome data from integrative care clinics in Santiago. Health economics required advanced Excel modelling to evaluate cost-effectiveness scenarios for acupuncture interventions in public settings. For my final-year applied project I mapped integrative care pathways for chronic pain patients, designing a mixed-methods study that combined descriptive and inferential statistics with Tableau visualisations. Supervised by Dr. María Torres, the project produced a policy memo for the Chilean Ministry of Health summarising quantitative findings and recommending how acupuncture could be integrated within national pain management protocols. My undergraduate training provided strong exposure to applied statistics, yet my experience with advanced econometric techniques and large-scale health systems data remains limited.
